The Birth of Lodger Footwear

Lodger Footwear was a luxury shoe company that specialized in handmade English and Italian men's shoes.  The company was founded in 2007 by Nathan Marcus Brown, the flagship retail shop was opened in Mayfair, London in 2008, and the business was sold in 2011.  It has since been incorporated into a larger British luxury group.

During that time, Lodger was twice nominated as Best Emerging British Luxury Brand (Walpole, 2009 & 2010), named as “One of the 100 Best Things in the World Right Now!” by GQ, and one of the UK “Fab 40” by Wallpaper*.  Our clients ranged from rock stars, to crown princes and even included a Prime Minister.

Highlights include:

  • Raising more than $5m USD in seed capital
  • Opening up a retail flagship in London on Clifford Street, between Bond Street and Savile Row
  • Reaching retail break-even 16 months from launch
  • Launching wholesale distribution in the UK, Western Europe, Japan, and Hong Kong
